Spruce
Last updated: April 2026
The short version
Spruce does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Everything happens on your iPhone. We never see your photos, and we never will.
What Spruce accesses
Spruce requests access to your iPhone's photo library so it can find large videos, old screenshots, and similar photos for you to review. This access is used only to scan your library and display items on screen. Spruce does not copy, upload, transmit, or modify your photos or videos in any way.
Spruce also reads your device's storage information to show you how much space is used and available. This data stays on your device.
What Spruce does not collect
Spruce does not collect:
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your location
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Analytics or usage data
- Browsing history
- Any data from other apps on your device
Where your data lives
All data generated by Spruce, including your cleanup history and preferences, is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage. Nothing is sent to a server. There is no Spruce account and no cloud sync.
Subscriptions
Spruce offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions managed entirely through Apple. When you subscribe, Apple handles all billing, payment processing, and receipt management. Spruce does not receive or store your payment information.
Subscription details:
- Annual plan: $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial
- Monthly plan: $4.99/month
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone's Settings or the App Store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Photo library and deletion
When you remove items through Spruce, they are moved to your iPhone's Recently Deleted folder using Apple's standard Photos framework. Items remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days before your iPhone removes them permanently. Spruce does not permanently delete anything directly.
Third-party services
Spruce does not use third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting services. There are no SDKs from Facebook, Google, Firebase, or any other third party embedded in the app.
Children's privacy
Spruce is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
